Ingredients
Main ingredients:
1 pound chicken wings (flats and/or drumettes)
For the Sauce (Braising Liquid):
1 can (12 oz / 355 ml) of Coke
3 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp dark soy sauce (this is mostly for color)
3 tbsp sugar
3 thin slices of fresh ginger
3 thin slices of lemon
Instructions
1. Pat dry the chicken wings

2. Start the sauce
In a bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients: Coke, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, ginger slices, and lemon slices. Transfer to a pot and bring the sauce to a boil over medium heat for 3 minutes. Remove the ginger and lemon slices.

3. Cook the Chicken Wings
Add the chicken wings to the sauce. Bring the sauce back to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low-medium. Cover the pan and let the wings cook for 10 minutes.

4. Soak the Chicken
Turn off the heat. Keep the pan covered and let the chicken wings soak in the sauce for 20 minutes.

5. Create the Glaze
Pour half cup of sauce into a pan and bring to a boil. Add cornstarch to thicken into a syrupy glaze.

6. Finish and Serve
Return the chicken wings to the pan. Toss them gently to coat them completely in the glaze. Garnished with a sprinkle of sesame seeds or sliced green onions if you like.
