Stir Fry Beef with Broccolini

Why is my recipe better? Broccolini is a combination of Chinese gai lan and broccoli which has milder, sweeter flavor and a more tender texture. I like to use sirloin even though it's a bit more expensive but it’s worthwhile for a great dish!

Ingredients

Main ingredients:

  • 12 oz beef (tenderloin is preferred)

  • 1 bunch of broccolini

  • 3-4 ginger pieces

  • 2 stalks of scallions (cut into 1-inch)

  • 1 garlic gloves

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Beef Seasoning

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • 1/2 tbsp corn starch

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

Sauce

  • 1 2/1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1/3 tsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp corn starch

  • 1/2 tsp of sesame oil

  • 3 tbsp water

Instructions

1. Prepare the Beef

Slice beef into 1/4 inch pieces and cut through the grain. Marinate with seasonings for at least 20 minutes.

Pro tip

Oil, cornstarch and baking soda makes the beef extra tender

2. Prepare the Sauce

3. Stir Fry the Broccolini

Wash the broccolini and cut it into 3-4 inch sections. Add garlic to 1 tbsp of oil in a pan and cook broccolini until fully cooked, add a pinch of salt. Set aside.

Pro tip

Add a little bit of cooking wine and sugar to remove bitterness.

3. Stir Fry the Beef

Heat 1½ tbsp of oil in a wok in HIGH HEAT. Stir-fry the ginger, minced garlic, and green onions until fragrant. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for a few moments. Add the cooking wine and stir.

4. Mix the broccolini and the Beef

Add the broccolini to the beef, pour the sauce mixture into the wok and continue to stir-fry until the sauce thickens. Serve immediately.
